QUESTION #018
Archived
Does a site need a "News" section?
Closed. The answer shaped this very site: there is no "News" section here.

Why the question came up
Almost every corporate site gets a news section by default. A year later it looks abandoned and works as proof that nobody maintains the site.
What is already known
- The section survives if the stream of materials exists independently of the site.
- The last publication date reads as the date the company was last alive — regardless of what is actually happening.
What is not known yet
- Closed: residual observations move into separate materials.
Current hypothesis
Hypothesis
A news section is needed where news appears more than monthly and has an audience outside the company. Otherwise a stream of materials without a promise of regularity is enough.
Next step
Applied. On qvorix-blog.ru there are material types and an archive instead of news: nothing expires by date alone.
